Week 6 Recap

This was a good week all things considered, although there was a lot of love/hate going on with the way the night turned out. I won Dial-for-Dollars in the Vega with a dead on 8.053 on a 8.05 dial. I took the cash and opted for the meager cash prize instead of the bye run. I cut a decent light first round and so did the other guy. On the big end, it was close……….and I broke out by .0002 by running an 8.0498 on an 8.05 dial.

Registration deadline for 2012 LeMons Pacific Northworst nears

Posted on by PeteRizzo
With the right care and a sense of daring, car fans can turn a lemon into a racing champion at this year's 24 Hours of LeMons.

Described by its promoters as a "breeding ground for morons," the 2012 edition of 24 Hours of LeMons Pacific Northworst is set to offer racing fans 24 hours of off-kilter racing again this year. For those who aren't familiar with the event, 24 Hours of LeMons offers participants a chance to show their love of cars in the same way that the Razzies celebrates movies.

GDRA Race #1 Presented by www.CoolRidesOnline.net

Contributed by: CJ Williams - GDRA Organizer / Track Relations

Are you ready to for some hard core drag racing action?  Well the GDRA has proven that its the place to race!!!  That’s right… it’s time to go racing, GDRA style!!!  2012 is all set to kick off and to get the season started off the right way is the first race taking place at Great Lakes Dragaway on Saturday, May 19th.

The GDRA over the winter has done it again… We have added a fourth class on a limited basis.  The racers have been begging for it and now they got it, 9.50 index racers… get ready because it’s your turn to race with the GDRA for CASH payouts!!!  Since the GDRA was formed back in 2010, racers have been asking the same thing, “When are you guys going to have a 9 second class?” Well that time is now as the GDRA will include the new 9.50 class in 5 of its 10 races limiting the field to the first 16 entries received.  The 9.50 class will race strictly at Byron Dragway and Cordova Dragway during the 2012 season.  All the same rules apply that have become common across the other 3 classes of racing but the Buy-In will be a reduced level of only $125.00 per race.  We are super excited about this class and its sure to be a hit as drivers have swamped the PO Box with entry forms and racing information requests.  Continue reading →

The 1946-48 Chevy Fleetmaster: The Calm Before the Storm

Posted on by PeteRizzo
While the 1947 Fleetlines didn't offer the radical departure from pre-war models that consumers were looking for, many collectors have found ways to improve these pieces of American history.

The aftermath of World War II did not immediately yield a period of prosperity. After all, while much had changed, the boom that is commonly associated with the post-war years had yet to fully take hold in the American marketplace. During the war, no civilian passenger cars were made, meaning that despite America's industrial progress, car buyers would need to wait until the '50s to witness the fruits that science and technology would bring to the automotive world.

The AMC “Rebel Machine”: More Than A One-Year Wonder

Posted on by PeteRizzo
While it was only offered for one year, the AMC Rebel Machine's short production span may have increased its value in the eyes of collectors.

When Tim Tebow was unexpectedly (some say, unceremoniously) traded to the New York Jets this off-season, many speculated if the whirlwind media frenzy around the NFL star would come to a halt. After all, it's hard to focus hours of programming on a football player who is watching most of the games from the bench.

The 1965 Plymouth Belvedere: A Mad Scientist’s Dream

Posted on by PeteRizzo
A 1965 Plymouth Belvedere with a red paint job masking the muscular Hemi inside.

We open on a room bathed in shining rays of light. The camera slowly pans toward an unknown narrator who talks in undulations and leaves us with this bit of wisdom: "We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives." And with that "Plan 9 From Outer Space," one of the most famed B-movies, begins.
